VINTAGE OAK CHEST / DESK. Original 1950s / 60s British made light oak chest of 4 drawers / desk by E GOMME for G PLAN furniture and part of the collectible Brandon range. Upon first glance this is a simple chest of drawers, but open the top drawer and it is instantly transformed into a bureau / writing desk.

From the original 1950s catalogue it explains that you could order this piece with either a plain sectioned top drawer or this nifty little'secretaire', very clever indeed! Nice quality piece, Lovely colour and grain to the wood. Finished in light oak veneers and with solid wood original handles.

Makers stamp to top drawer. CONDITION overall for its age is good, there are of course the usual age related scratches and marks. Previously filled area to veneer on back left edge. Small chip to drawer front.

85 high x 76 wide x 46 deep x 68 knee height room. The older pieces of furniture are better made, normally by craftsmen and not machines, have more character & if looked after will last many years. I also love much older pieces, if they are unusual, well made & a great design I will offer them for sale. I like to keep pieces as original as possible & will clean & re oil / wax. I convert some to'Hairpin leg' pieces if they have no legs / ugly legs or missing legs. I do NOT allow customers to arrange their own couier as I cannot accept responsibility for the item in transit.
